Care
Caring for polki, kundan, gold and diamond jewellery
Five habits that keep fine jewellery looking the way it did on the day you bought it.

Fine jewellery is made to last generations, with a little care. These are the habits we recommend to every family who leaves the house with a new piece.
1. Check the prongs
Every few months, look closely at the claws holding your stones. If anything feels loose or catches on fabric, bring it in before you lose a stone.
2. Jewellery on last
Put your jewellery on after make-up, perfume and hairspray. Their chemicals can dull gold and cloud stones.
3. Wash gold and diamonds gently
Warm water, a drop of mild soap and a soft brush are enough for gold and diamond pieces. Rinse and dry with a soft cloth. Never do this with polki, kundan or jadau.
4. Store pieces separately
Diamonds are hard enough to scratch other stones and gold. Keep each piece in its own pouch or a lined compartment.
5. Keep polki and kundan dry
Moisture can get behind the stones and darken the foil. Store them flat and dry, and wipe them with a soft dry cloth after wearing.
Bring any Talwar piece to the house for a check and clean whenever you like.
