Vanessa & Harman
A traditional Sikh wedding at the Loews Hotel, Philadelphia, with polki bridal jewellery from Chandigarh, chosen from across the world.

The wedding
Red, gold and green enamel
Vanessa and Harman were married at the Loews Hotel in Philadelphia in 2022, in a traditional Sikh ceremony that brought two families and two cultures together.
Vanessa wore a classic red lehenga, chosen remotely over FaceTime, with a peach dupatta edged in gold. Planning from the other side of the world meant many decisions happened on a screen.
Her jewellery is built around polki and green enamel. A layered polki necklace sits across the neckline of the lehenga, with green enamel detailing that cuts through the red and gold of the embroidery. Matching polki earrings finish in pearl drops, and a maang tikka centres the look beneath her dupatta.
Red and green is one of the oldest pairings in Indian bridal jewellery, and it suited a ceremony that honoured tradition while welcoming a new family. Against the white stone columns and grand staircases of Philadelphia, the polki caught the light and the green held its colour in every photograph.
